Job summary

Greencore Desserts Highbridge is recruiting for a Hygiene Section Leader to oversee the hygiene team on a night shift within our Highbridge production site in Somerset. You will ensure safe working practices, maintain clean records, and drive continuous improvement in hygiene standards across the site.

The role requires supervisory experience, strong IT and numerical skills, and a hands-on, proactive approach.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Hygiene Section Leader your key focus will be to lead and motivate the Hygiene team ensuring our high Hygiene standards are met and records are maintained accurately.

Role Accountabilities

• Ensure agreed controls for safe working practices in relation to personnel, chemicals, processes or raw materials are adhered to.
• Maintain departmental housekeeping and hygiene standards, and ensure all data and records are maintained accurately.
• Manage allocated labour resources to ensure performance standards are achieved. Manage performance and attendance of the team, including first level formal written disciplinary action, performance review, and absence management including return to work procedures.
• Ensure the team is correctly deployed and performing in adherence to the plan. Manage breaks and shift changeover processes to ensure they do not disrupt productivity and workflow.
• Work within predefined cost efficiencies to maximise resources and reduce wastage.
• Ensure all staff are trained on hygiene procedures with regards to standards and Health and Safety, developing a multi‑skilled team. Actively coach, develop, and recruit team members to the required level of competence to encourage continuous improvement within the business.
• Encourage the Greencore values and a positive culture, whilst fostering good employee relations through fair, consistent and effective people management.
• Maintain effective communication between staff and management with internal and external customers. Highlight training needs to the Hygiene Section Manager.
