Job summary

A food production company in York is seeking a Hygiene Operative for the evening shift. Responsibilities include cleaning machinery and maintaining hygiene standards in the factory. Responsibilities

  • Clean machinery and factory to the satisfaction of your Supervisor.
  • Utilise departmental resources efficiently, for example labour and machinery.
  • Clean the areas designated to you in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Minimize wastage, for example water use or packaging.
  • Look after the equipment that you use in your work.
  • Maintain the area of work in a clean and tidy state.
  • Comply with company policy on hygiene practices and safe food handling.
  • Comply with health and safety rules to prevent/minimize the risk of accidents.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings as required.
  • Participate in training in accordance with your personal training plan.
  • Carry out additional duties requested by your Supervisor.

Job Description


  • Clean machinery and factory to the satisfaction of your Supervisor.

  • Utilise departmental resources efficiently, for example labour and machinery.

  • Clean the areas designated to you in a safe and efficient manner to the procedures laid down in the cleaning schedules.

  • Minimize wastage, for example water use or packaging.

  • To look after the equipment that you use in your work - lances - foam barrels - venturies etc.

  • Maintain the area of work in a clean and tidy state.

  • Comply with company policy on hygiene practices and safe food handling at all times.

  • Comply with health and safety rules, to prevent/minimise the risk of accidents.

  • Attend appropriate team meetings as required by the Technical Manager.

  • Participate in training, in accordance with your personal training plan.

  • Carry out any additional duties which may be reasonably requested by your Supervisor.
