Purpose
To maintain, develop, and implement the hygiene regime, ensuring compliance with procedures and food safety standards. To supervise the team of hygiene operators across a 4-shift spectrum. The role will be permanent days, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a requirement to work 1 day every 2 weeks from 12pm to 8pm to support the night shift.
Key Areas of Accountabilities
- Managing, training, and supporting a team of hygiene supervisors and operatives, with flexibility to support various shift patterns and occasional night shifts for deep cleaning and hygiene improvement plans.
- Driving and implementing significant change and improvement in cleaning efficiency and effectiveness to the highest standards.
- Coordinating the hygiene strategy across the site regarding people development, engagement, and cost control.
- Managing and achieving KPIs across the site.
- Employing effective root cause analysis to drive SMART actions, leading to improved hygiene standards.
- Planning and coordinating daily and routine hygiene cleans and deep clean cycles.
- Leading production, planning, and engineering to ensure cleans are carried out to a good standard without affecting production downtime.
- Investigating and implementing corrective actions in response to micro or allergen out-of-spec results from technical.
- Maintaining CICs, SDS, and procedures, and ensuring training is conducted.
- Conducting GMP & Hygiene Inspection Audits with Technical and Operations.
- Carrying out verification swabbing and cleaning validations.
- Representing the Hygiene function during customer visits and audits.
- Ensuring compliance with and assisting in the implementation of company food safety, quality, and legality policies.
- Managing team performance to deliver results.
Key Performance Indicators
- Improved/sustained GMP/Hygiene audit scores.
- Positive customer feedback from audits and visits.
- Achieving and maintaining minimum BRCGS Grade A.
- An engaged team trained and familiar with C.I.C methodologies.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Awareness and compliance with all guidance in the company handbook.
- Reporting accidents and near misses.
- Safe use of factory equipment and adherence to safe working instructions.
The Person Profile
Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills. An experienced hygiene professional with an active hands-on approach and a can-do attitude. Capable of coaching and training the hygiene team, setting and improving hygiene standards. Solution-oriented, with professional integrity. Confident in customer-facing roles for audit compliance.
Skills and Experience - Essential
- Experience in the hygiene function within the Food Manufacturing industry.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Demonstrates a strong moral compass in business dealings.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or other ERP systems.
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
- Flexible to meet business and role demands.
Skills and Experience - Desirable
- Level 3 Food Safety & HACCP training (training courses to be arranged).
- Chemical awareness training (training courses to be arranged).
Remuneration
- Salary GBP50 - GBP55K
