Hydrometry & Telemetry Field Officer - 30979

Join the Environment Agency, an organization that values diversity and inclusion! This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of the Northeast Area Hydrometry and Telemetry (H&T) team.

The position involves maintaining, upgrading, and improving our hydrometry and telemetry network, primarily in the field, to ensure accurate data and alarm services for flood warning and water resource management.

You will:

  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the North-East H&T network, ensuring efficiency and data quality.
  2. Learn to operate and install hydrometric equipment to national standards.
  3. Prioritize workload dynamically, respond to faults, and meet service level agreements.
  4. Contribute to expanding renewable energy use within the network and reducing carbon emissions.
  5. Respond effectively to incidents, ensuring a resilient and flexible network.

This role requires availability for incident response, which may include additional pay and training, with flexible arrangements to support this.

The team manages over 300 sites across North-East England, supporting flood forecasting and water management.

Requirements:

  • Preferably field experience; training provided.
  • Understanding of hydrometric data's importance.
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation, teamwork, and good time management.
  • Technical skills with equipment and computers.
  • Passion for analysis and problem solving.
  • Willingness to relocate if necessary.
