Job summary

Arup in the UK is seeking a Hydrologist to join our Birmingham, Cardiff or Bristol offices. You will deliver water resources assessments, support strategic planning, and contribute to multidisciplinary projects with colleagues across flood risk, infrastructure and environmental planning.

You will collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes, strengthen relationships, and develop your professional capabilities toward Chartership within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Technical water resource modelling experience with WRMPs or similar.
• Proficiency in Excel, macros/VBA and model interrogation.
• Strong grounding in hydrology, rainfall–runoff and climate change impacts.
• Experience building and managing long-term client relationships.
• Awareness of UK and international water resources issues.
• Experience using GIS tools (ArcGIS/QGIS) and scripting.
• Chartered membership or active pursuit is desirable.
• Experience in scenario development and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

• Deliver water resources assessments and support for strategic planning.
• Collaborate with flood risk, regulatory, and advisory teams across projects.
• Maintain client relationships and support technical and commercial delivery.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary assignments spanning consultancy and research.
