Job description

The Opportunity

Our expanding workload in groundwater resources and contaminated land-related work means we are actively recruiting to support our growing team specialising in these areas. We seek energetic and innovative staff to deliver our solution-oriented services to existing and new clients. This position will require you to work within multi-disciplinary teams to support projects across the UK and internationally. It can potentially be based in Bristol, Cardiff, Reading, High Wycombe, Shrewsbury, Birmingham, Glasgow, or Edinburgh.

We are looking for a Hydrogeologist who can support and deliver hydrogeological and environmental aspects of varied projects across the UK. This position offers the potential for experience in a wide range of interesting and challenging projects and the potential for strong career growth for an enthusiastic and self-motivated candidate. It is expected that you will be interested in gaining professional experience to work towards obtaining charters in the next five years, an endeavour that will be fully supported at Stantec.

As a Hydrogeologist, you will have developed good communication skills with colleagues and sub-contractors in a professional setting and be learning more about the regulatory, business and policy environment in which our clients operate. You will have a science-based undergraduate degree and/or an MSc in Hydrogeology and at least three years of post-graduate experience in supporting hydrogeology-related projects. Practical knowledge of field-based monitoring/sampling and drilling supervision; pumping test supervision and analysis; data analytics, scripting and numerical groundwater modelling; or geochemical modelling and hydrochemical analysis would be an advantage.

About You
You will be expected to be enthusiastic about learning from more experienced Stantec Hydrogeologists and be taking on more responsibility as an early-career professional.

Candidates must demonstrate skills in conducting and arranging site activities, contractor management, factual and interpretative reporting, data management, quantitative analysis and effective science communication. The individual will be expected also to demonstrate a growing ability to produce high-quality oral and written communications. Good time management skills, professionalism, and a flexible attitude are also essential to work within our busy and dynamic team.
