Job summary

SSE Renewables Hydro operates the largest fleet of hydro-electric assets across eight schemes in Scotland. The Hydro M&E Maintenance Engineer role focuses on ensuring the availability and maintenance of Breadalbane stations, keeping them reliable and ready to operate.

You’ll support maintenance across plant and systems, generate reports, and uphold safe work practices while collaborating with control room staff, project teams and first responders to achieve hydro business objectives.

Qualifications

• HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; strong knowledge of maintenance and reliability.
• Excellent fault-finding and analytical skills to monitor failures.
• Solid understanding of hydroelectric machinery and its interdependent systems.
• Familiarity with Safe Systems of Work and commitment to safety culture.
• Full and valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, test and resolve defects on plant, equipment and systems at hydro stations.
• Complete maintenance reports and logs on time per quality requirements.
• Ensure timely completion of planned maintenance using engineeri ng 1st principles with safety in mind.
• Provide technical support to stakeholders including first responders, project teams and control room staff.
• Identify, manage and implement plant reliability and upgrade projects.
• Achieve and maintain Safe Systems of Work authorisation.
