Job description

Hydraulic Engineer Position Overview
  • Installation, commissioning, disassembly, fault finding/diagnostics, servicing, repair, retrofits, and upgrades on complete hydraulic systems (HPUs) and control systems/components.
  • Calibrating flow, pressure, temperature, and positional devices and instruments, including associated control panel devices.
  • Fault finding on electro/hydraulic systems.
  • Stripping, assessing, and identifying hydraulic parts in need of repair from drawings/BOMs.
  • Troubleshooting hydraulic installations.
  • Building new projects in the factory and pipefitting.
  • Repairing old items, including stripping and inspecting.
  • Performing repairs around the country, usually locally, including hydraulic factory systems, presses, bridges, etc.
Hydraulic Engineer Position Requirements
  • Understanding and interpreting hydraulic system drawings.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical/hydraulic system drawings and components.
  • Fault finding on electro/hydraulic systems with a willingness to work on a multi-skilled basis.
  • Ability to strip, assess, and identify hydraulic parts in need of repair from drawings/BOMs.
  • Troubleshooting hydraulic installations.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic piston pumps, pressure and flow control valves, directional control valves, check valves, double and single acting cylinders.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • ONC/HNC qualified or recognized mechanical apprenticeship or relevant industry qualifications.
  • Full clean driving license.
Hydraulic Engineer Position Remuneration
  • Salary: £32,000 - £35,000
  • Working hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30-16:30, Friday 7:30-12:30
  • Holiday package: 25 days + 8 bank holidays
  • Overtime: 1.33x for first 2 hours on weekdays, then 1.5x; Saturdays 1.5x, Sundays 2x
  • Vehicle provided for mobile service/installation work.
  • Death in service: 3 times salary and other benefits.
  • Expenses paid. Own room when staying away.
  • Pension.
