Role Overview:
We are seeking an individual who can operate at a senior/principal level within our project team, contributing technical oversight and mentorship to junior staff. It is desired that the candidate has a proven track record of delivering hydraulic modelling projects and experience in leading client engagement, project scoping, and the delivery of detailed technical reports
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and validate hydraulic and hydrodynamic models for rivers and coastal systems.
Conduct flood risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies.
Perform coastal modelling, including wave and tidal analyses.
Prepare technical reports and documentation for clients and stakeholders.
Deliver project tasks within budget and schedule constraints.
Collaborate with clients, regulatory bodies, and multidisciplinary teams.
Mentor and supervise junior team members, fostering their professional growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, or HEC-RAS.
Experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial analysis.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Chartered status or working towards chartership with a relevant institution (e.g., CIWEM) is desirable.
Knowledge of UK hydrological methodologies, such as the Flood Estimation Handbook.
Experience in developing hydrological studies and understanding of basic hydraulics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to write clearly and concisely, producing high-quality reports.
Proactive approach to work with strong analytical abilities.
Attention to detail and focus on quality.
Ability to apply knowledge to non-standard situations.
Effective communication skills with team members and external organizations.
Knowledge of Python scripting for tool development and data analysis is beneficial but not essential.
