Job description

Bennett and Game are pleased to be representing a well-established, multidisciplinary consultancy looking for a capable Hydraulic Modeler to take ownership of fluvial modelling assignments, guide junior colleagues and provide clear, defensible advice to clients and regulators across a wide range of infrastructure and development projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and technically confident professional to play a key role in delivering high-quality, practical flood-risk solutions within a collaborative and growing team.

This is a role where your work truly matters. You'll help keep people, places, and infrastructure safer through evidence-led flood modelling and practical mitigation advice.

Hydraulic Modeler Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: 37,000 - 40,000
  • 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

Hydraulic Modeler Job Overview

  • Prepare risk assessments, site walk-overs, surveys
  • Write Flood Risk Assessments, ES chapters, modelling reports, survey specs, fee proposals
  • Undertake hydrological analyses (FEH, ReFH2, WINFAP)
  • Build & run hydraulic models (HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, ESTRY, Flood Modeller) incl. stabilisation & calibration
  • Engage with regulators, authorities, stakeholders & clients
  • Manage time / budgets, mentor junior staff


Hydraulic Modeler Job Requirements

  • UK flood-risk & drainage policy knowledge (England, Wales, Scotland)
  • Strong written & verbal communication; organisation; multidisciplinary teamwork experience
  • 5-7 years in fluvial flood / hydraulic modelling
  • Relevant degree (Geography, Earth/Environmental Sciences, Engineering) & CIWEM (or working towards chartership)
  • Experience preparing flood risk assessments / Modelling reports / water environment ES chapters.
  • Familiar with Hydrology (FEH Statistical Analysis, ReFH2, WINFAP, etc) and Modelling software (HECRAS, TUFLOW, ESTRY, Flood Modeller, etc).
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
