Job summary

Van Elle is seeking a practical Hydraulic Hose Engineer for Kirkby in Ashfield to support manufacture, installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of hydraulic hoses for our fleet. The role emphasizes hands-on assembly and site work, with a focus on safety and quality.

You will operate in workshop and on-site environments, manage hose stock, assist with stock audits, and ensure repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Experience with hydraulic hoses and hydraulic systems.
  • Able to manufacture and fit hydraulic hoses.
  • Understanding of hydraulic components, fittings and pipework.
  • Experience on construction, plant or heavy equipment.
  • Forklift licence held.
  • Plant maintenance qualification or relevant engineering qualification.
  • Good stock management and strong health and safety commitment.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and assemble hydraulic hoses to required specifications.
  • Inspect, diagnose and replace damaged hoses and fittings.
  • Carry out hydraulic hose repairs and installations in workshop and at sites.
  • Respond to plant breakdowns and provide emergency hose repair services.
  • Maintain stock levels of hoses, fittings and consumables.
  • Monitor inventory and raise replenishment requests to ensure stock availability.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and assist with stock audits.
  • Ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Conduct inspections of hydraulic systems to identify issues before failure.
  • Support maintenance of piling rigs, excavators, cranes, generators and other plant equipment.
  • Complete documentation relating to repairs, inspections and stock movements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Adhere to health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Participate in on-call or out-of-hours breakdown support when required.

Hydraulic Hose Engineer
Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottingham, NG17 8GJ

Are you an experienced Hydraulic Hose Engineer looking for a hands-on role where your skills will make a real difference? We’re looking for a practical, reliable and safety-focused engineer to support the manufacture, installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of hydraulic hoses for our extensive fleet.

What you’ll be doing
  • Manufacture and assemble hydraulic hoses to required specifications.
  • Inspect, diagnose and replace damaged or worn hydraulic hoses and fittings.
  • Carry out hydraulic hose repairs and installations within the workshop and at operational sites
  • Respond to plant breakdowns and attend sites to provide emergency hose repair services when required.
  • Maintain stock levels of hydraulic hoses, fittings, couplings and associated consumables
  • Monitor inventory and place replenishment requests to ensure adequate stock availability
  • Maintain accurate stock records and assist with stock audits.
  • Ensure all hydraulic repairs are completed to a high standard and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct inspections of hydraulic systems to identify potential issues before failure occurs.
  • Assist workshop personnel with general plant maintenance, servicing and repairs as required.
  • Support the maintenance and repair of piling rigs, excavators, cranes, generators and other plant equipment.
  • Complete all documentation relating to repairs, inspections and stock movements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Adhere to company health, safety and environmental procedures at all times.
  • Participate in on-call or out-of-hours breakdown support when required.
  • Conduct self in a way that reflect and promotes the Van Elle company values.
  • Understand and act in accordance with Van Elle’s policies and procedures
  • Any other tasks that you may reasonably be required to undertake.
What we’re looking for
  • Previous experience working with hydraulic hoses and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to manufacture and fit hydraulic hoses.
  • Good understanding of hydraulic components, fittings and pipework.
  • Experience working on construction, plant or heavy equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose hydraulic faults and carry out effective repairs.
  • Forklift truck licence
  • Plant maintenance qualifications or relevant engineering qualification
  • Good organisational and stock management skills.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Other Requirements:
  • Eligible to work and live in the UK.
  • Flexibility to travel in the UK.
  • A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK
