Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Transport Planner or Assistant Transport Planner for its North team, based in Newcastle or Leeds. You will support development-related transport planning, including Assessments, Travel Plans and EIAs, with site visits and data analysis using Excel and GIS.

You will work closely with experienced professionals, gain exposure to transport modelling, and contribute to sustainable transport solutions within a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant subject such as transport planning, civil engineering or geography.
• Professional accreditation or membership of CIHT, CILT, TPP or ICE is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is required; opportunities to develop AutoCAD, GIS and specialist transport planning software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, EIAs and sustainable transport solutions.
• Arrange traffic, pedestrian and cyclist surveys and site visits; analyse and interpret data.
• Support highway designs and develop active travel and inclusive mobility solutions.
• Build technical knowledge of the UK planning process and transport modelling tools (TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions, LinSig, Transyt).

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transport planning / civil engineering / geography
