Job summary

Eurostar is seeking a Systems Engineer (Mechanical) to maintain and improve the performance of mechanical systems across the cl373 and cl374 fleets. You will lead investigations, develop engineering changes, and support overhaul projects to ensure lifecycle and reliability targets are met.

This permanent on-site role is based at Temple Mills depot in Leyton, with hybrid working; attend site four days per week. Close date: 4 November 2026, 17:00.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in rolling stock engineering or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of rolling stock systems and maintenance principles.
• Experience with fault investigation, RCAs and reliability improvement.
• Understanding railway standards (TSI/EN/UIC/ISO).
• Ability to interpret drawings and data.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for assigned mechanical systems across the fleet.
• Lead investigations into faults, defects, incidents, non-conformances.
• Develop and approve engineering changes and maintenance improvements.
• Support reliability and performance initiatives through design, maintenance, lifecycle optimisation.
• Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, testing, and system acceptance.
• Provide technical support to depot teams, suppliers and operations.
• Manage system obsolescence and maintain long-term availability.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation in compliance with standards.
• Participate in on-call engineering rota.
