Job summary

NHS Supply Chain is seeking a Category Manager to lead strategically important programmes across the Commercial - Medical Technologies function. You will shape category strategies, deliver savings and improve patient outcomes by collaborating with NHSE, DHSC, NHS Trusts and suppliers.

Hybrid role with two days on site weekly at Wakefield, Sheffield, Alfreton or Daresbury, offering development opportunities and a focus on value-based procurement and supply chain resilience.

Qualifications

• Lead strategic category projects delivering savings and value.
• Develop long-term category strategies aligned with NHS priorities.
• Identify opportunities to optimise portfolios, routes to market and models.
• Lead procurement and framework activities from strategy to implementation.
• Build relationships with NHSE, DHSC, NHS Trusts, clinicians, suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic category projects and programmes delivering savings and service improvements.
• Develop and implement long-term category strategies aligned to NHS priorities.
• Identify opportunities to optimise product portfolios and commercial models.
• Drive complex procurement and framework activities from strategy to implementation.
• Engage with senior stakeholders across NHSE, DHSC, NHS Trusts and industry partners.
• Use market intelligence and data analytics to identify opportunities and risks.
• Influence policy and decision-making through evidence-based recommendations.
• Drive supplier collaboration to improve outcomes and resilience.
• Lead initiatives to ensure continuity of supply for critical products.
• Support achievement of organisational savings targets and value creation programs.
• Champion continuous improvement across category management.
