Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group in Manchester is hiring a Senior Detection & Response Engineer to defend a major UK financial institution against evolving cyber threats. You will lead complex investigations, provide technical leadership, and develop detection and response capabilities in a hybrid work environment.

You will drive threat hunting, proactive security activities and act as an authority on security engineering, shaping policies and investments to strengthen cyber resilience.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex cyber security incidents within a Security Operations or Incident Response context.
• Proven ability to conduct root-cause analysis and oversee remediation and recovery efforts.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills in fast-moving situations.
• Deep understanding of attacker behaviours, cyber kill chains and modern defence approaches.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership during incidents.
• Ability to communicate clearly with senior leaders and technical teams during incidents.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate complex cyber security investigations, driving containment, remediation and lessons learned.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers during incidents.
• Develop and improve detection and response capabilities to strengthen defence outcomes.
• Lead threat hunting, proactive investigations and cyber defence activities.
• Act as a technical authority for security engineering influencing policies and roadmaps.
• Drive automation and optimisation to improve detection and response efficiency.
