Job summary

MBNL is seeking a Senior Design Manager – Regulation, Audit & Governance to shape and implement building safety and regulatory compliance across its national infrastructure portfolio. You will apply architectural and technical judgement to ensure safety requirements are interpreted, communicated and embedded.

The role focuses on translating complex legislation into practical guidance, governance frameworks and assurance processes, influencing standards across a national footprint and reporting

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Building Regulations and CDM Principal Designer roles and responsibilities.
• Ability to understand and apply complex legislation, standards, and guidance.
• Experience or capability of authoring technical, regulatory, policy, governance, or specification documentation.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply the Building Safety Act 2022, Building Regulations, fire safety legislation, and associated guidance across MBNL's infrastructure portfolio.
• Assess how building safety and regulatory requirements apply to mobile infrastructure projects, particularly rooftop and complex sites.
• Develop and maintain guidance, policies, standards, process maps, and regulatory documentation.
• Ensure documentation is practical, auditable, regulator-ready and aligned with industry best practice.
• Coordinate input from stakeholders, suppliers, and subject matter experts to develop effective compliance frameworks.
• Provide technical input on the interaction between telecommunications infrastructure and host buildings, including structural, fire safety, access, and building services considerations.
• Apply architectural and technical judgement to assess the interface between telecommunications infrastructure and existing buildings, particularly rooftop and complex locations.
• Support design reviews, risk assessments, governance activities, and compliance assurance processes.
• Communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver training, workshops, and communications to support adoption of new requirements.
• Engage with industry bodies, regulators and external partners where required.
• Monitor emerging legislation, guidance, and industry developments to drive continuous improvement.
