Job summary

Penguin Random House UK is seeking a Royalty Audit Assistant to join our Royalties team in Frating, Essex. You will review third-party royalty reporting, analyze data, and help identify discrepancies to support audit planning and investigations.

You will recover income from overseas tax deductions, coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, and contribute to quality assurance checks on royalty statements. Hybrid working is offered with office days in Essex.

Qualifications

• Good numerical and analytical skills with high accuracy.
• Good Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.
• Experience with financial, royalty or other transactional data.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and anomalies and document findings clearly.
• Strong written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Curious, questioning approach and willingness to seek guidance when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the recovery of excess tax deducted from German sublicensees, including obtaining documentation and processing refund applications.
• Support analysis and recovery of tax deducted on Ventures income from overseas sub-agents, liaising with stakeholders.
• Support royalty audits through data analysis and reconciliation from third-party licensees, recalculating royalties and comparing sales data.
• Analyse high-value author and brand royalty statements, identifying anomalies to support risk-based audit planning.
• Undertake quality assurance checks on cash and royalty statements, escalating errors or anomalies.
• Track improvements from royalty audit reviews and follow up on outstanding items.
