Job summary

Yorkshire Cancer Research in Harrogate is seeking a Research Grants Manager to lead our funding rounds and shape our research strategy. This hybrid role blends office collaboration with time for focused planning.

You will manage end-to-end funding processes, engage researchers and external partners, and uphold robust peer review and data protection standards in line with charity policies.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent with experience in charity/research/health environment.
• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
• Experience delivering health research funding rounds including peer review.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of funding rounds with timelines, docs and communications.
• Manage end-to-end funding round process: submissions, eligibility, assessment, peer review, awards.
• Publicise, launch and manage funding calls; advise applicants.
• Ensure expert review is robust, transparent and aligned with AMRC principles.
• Liaise with applicants on queries and communicate outcomes.
• Prepare proposals for the Board on funding round outcomes.
• Recommend award decisions to Head of Research and Trials; address review queries.
• Ensure data protection compliance for funding rounds and awards.
• Design and implement new funding streams with leadership team.
• Set team objectives and budgets; support organisational strategy.
• Monitor external research environment (AMRC, NIHR, UKNSC, etc.).
• Coach and develop the Research Funding Team; model charity values.
• Collaborate with Post Award Research Manager as needed.
