Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking an ambitious Quantity Surveyor/Cost Manager to join its growing team in the UK. You will deliver cost management from feasibility through final accounts, liaising with clients, contractors and consultants to ensure commercial success.

The role offers a clear progression toward Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior Cost Manager, with mentoring, APC support, and flexible working arrangements to balance client needs and professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering quantity surveying or cost management services in a consultancy, client-side or contractor environment.
• Experience across built environment sectors such as commercial, healthcare, education, residential, public sector or mixed-use.
• Good understanding of pre-contract and post-contract cost management.
• Experience preparing cost plans, estimates, tender documentation and commercial reports.
• Knowledge of UK contracts (JCT and/or NEC).
• MRICS chartership or approaching professional qualification with commitment to achieving chartership within six months.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and CostX or similar cost management tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cost management services from feasibility and initial estimates through to project completion and final accounts.
• Prepare cost plans, cash flow forecasts, cost reports, benchmarking exercises and commercial assessments.
• Undertake measurements and prepare bills of quantities, schedules of work, tender documentation and contract documents.
• Support procurement strategies, tender processes, tender analysis and contractor recommendations.
• Manage project costs during construction, including valuations, forecasting, change control and financial reporting.
• Monitor project budgets, identify cost risks and opportunities, and recommend mitigation measures.
• Provide commercial advice and support contract administration under JCT, NEC and other forms.
• Monitor project changes, manage final accounts and support fee management and invoicing.
• Attend client, consultant and contractor meetings, providing clear commercial updates.
• Develop relationships with clients and stakeholders to support project delivery and repeat business.
• Work with project managers, engineers, designers and other specialists; contribute to bids and business development.
• Mentor graduates and junior colleagues while continuing to develop technical and commercial expertise.
