Job summary

Torbay Council is seeking a Planning Officer to join the Development Management Team. You will manage a varied caseload of planning applications across Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, negotiating improvements and preparing recommendations for delegated decisions and Planning Committee consideration.

Qualifications

• Experience in Development Management and planning legislation.
• Experience presenting to planning or other committees or providing evidence for inquiries.
• Knowledge of development management from pre-application to post-decision matters.
• Understanding of economic regeneration and sustainability considerations.
• Planning related degree or significant relevant experience; RTPI membership or progression sought.

Responsibilities

• Assess planning applications and undertake site visits.
• Negotiate improvements to proposals and prepare recommendations for delegated decisions.
• Provide pre-application advice and post-decision support.
• Contribute to regeneration projects and delivery of environmental objectives.
