Job summary

Butler Rose is seeking a Payroll Officer to join its finance team in Tiverton. You will manage payroll for 700+ employees across multiple monthly cycles and handle pension administration, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The role offers hybrid working with three days in the office, ongoing development, and opportunities to contribute to process improvements and reporting initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-volume payroll processing, in bureau or in-house.
• Solid knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Clear communication to explain payroll concepts to non-payroll staff.
• Ability to build relationships across the business.
• Proficient in Excel and quick to learn new systems.
• Reliable commute to Tiverton three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on time across multiple payrolls.
• Support payroll compliance and maintain employee records.
• Administer pension schemes including auto-enrolment contributions and submissions.
• Respond to payroll and pension queries from managers and employees.
• Conduct payroll audits and maintain payroll data in systems.
• Assist with payroll reporting, budgeting and payroll projects.
