Job summary

St Peter & St James Hospice is seeking a Finance Assistant to support the Finance Team with accurate processing of transactions and timely supplier payments. The role offers a part-time 30-hour week with potential hybrid working and scope to contribute to year-end processes.

You will manage ledgers, assist with payments, payroll and financial reporting, while collaborating with colleagues to deliver reliable financial information for decision-making.

Qualifications

• Experience in bookkeeping and financial administration.
• Proficient with IT and Excel for financial tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchase ledger, ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and authorised appropriately.
• Prepare payment runs for approval and upload payments to the bank.
• Enter sales invoices and maintain accurate financial records.
• Process incoming payments and allocate receipts correctly.
• Perform bank, credit card and control account reconciliations.
• Respond professionally to finance-related queries from colleagues and external organisations.
• Support the preparation of information required for the year-end audit process.
• Assist the Finance Manager and Finance Director with ad hoc finance projects and administrative tasks.
• Help ensure the finance function operates efficiently and meets all statutory and organisational requirements.
