Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Bristol seeks a Principal Civil Structural Engineer to lead nuclear safety-related structures, combining technical excellence with people leadership.

You will mentor engineers, build strong client relationships, support bid development, and drive delivery across major programmes such as HPC, Sizewell C and future fusion initiatives, while balancing strategic growth with hands-on project oversight.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (IStructE, ICE, or equivalent) with a civil/structural focus.
• Proven leadership experience, mentoring engineers and delivering teams.
• Deep nuclear sector experience in structural design, assessment, safety-related engineering.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Apply analysis and design of nuclear safety-related structures.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering projects with on-time, high-quality delivery.
• Mentor teams and provide technical oversight.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Contribute to bid development and growth initiatives.
• Balance technical depth with leadership responsibilities.
• Work across office and client environments (min 3 days/week).
