Job summary

Canterbury City Council is seeking a Network and Infrastructure Engineer to join the Infrastructure and Security team. You will design, implement and maintain network and infrastructure services across cloud and on-premise platforms, helping modernise digital services and migrate to the cloud.

You should have strong networking, server management and cloud experience, with Azure and Microsoft 365 knowledge, and a focus on secure, resilient infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of modern infrastructure and networking technologies, including cloud platforms and security considerations.
• Experience with Azure and Microsoft 365 in enterprise environments.
• Understanding of cloud and software-defined networking concepts, connectivity and access controls.
• Knowledge of identity, authentication and access controls in infrastructure design.
• Experience with infrastructure security, monitoring and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate and maintain network and infrastructure services supporting the council’s digital platforms.
• Support modernisation efforts including cloud-hosted platforms and SaaS integrations.
• Build and maintain infrastructure components across cloud, networking, identity, endpoint and core services.
• Operate infrastructure in line with standards, security controls and architectural direction.
• Participate in infrastructure change activities including upgrades, migrations and decommissioning of legacy services.
• Monitor health, performance, availability and resilience of infrastructure services.
