Job summary

ILM London is seeking a Motion Editor (Performance Capture Animators) to join our London studio. You will retarget and edit body motion from mocap data, ensuring non-destructive edits and fluid transitions while respecting the source performance.

The role covers humans, props, and various creature types, with a collaborative approach and a strong eye for detail. This role is hybrid: 2 days on-site per week with occasional home working. Summer 2026 start possible.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in the high-end film VFX or video game industry.
• A current showreel demonstrating mocap-based work.
• Experience with motion capture data and workflows.
• Understanding of retargeting techniques and animation principles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Retarget motion between hierarchies accurately and independently.
• Enhance performances while preserving original intent and data.
• Adjust interactions between characters, props, and environment.
• Improve animation with finger, toe, and tail motion where needed.
• Blend motions for fluid, believable transitions between clips.
• Senior roles may mentor juniors and share techniques to raise quality.
