Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Mobile/Workshop Engineer to join the NHS Wheelchair Service at Exeter Mobility Centre. The role blends community visits with hands-on workshop work to service wheelchairs.

You will travel across Devon, diagnose faults, repair, maintain and refurbish wheelchair equipment, and demonstrate safe use to users and carers. We welcome both full-time and part-time applicants and offer flexible working patterns and a supportive NHS

Qualifications

• Experience delivering, repairing and maintaining wheelchair equipment.
• Willingness to travel across Devon and work in a workshop.

Responsibilities

• Travelling to service users’ homes using a Trust vehicle
• Delivering, repairing, maintaining, and collecting wheelchairs
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs, modifications, and PPMs
• Demonstrating safe use of equipment to service users and carers
• Repairing, servicing, and reconditioning wheelchair equipment
• Preparing equipment for delivery and ensuring safety standards are met
• Managing stock, parts, and equipment within the workshop
• Supporting refurbishment of returned items, including cushions
• Completing accurate documentation and maintaining records
• Ensuring tools, parts, and vehicles are ready for daily work
• Following infection control and health & safety procedures
