Job summary

The Growth Company’s Marketing Manchester team is seeking a Communications Assistant to support the Media Team in delivering communications to raise Greater Manchester’s profile nationally and internationally. This hybrid role is based in our Manchester office, with at least one day per week in the office.

You will plan media visits, respond to enquiries, monitor coverage and produce content including press releases and social media posts, working with journalists, influencers and stakeholders

Qualifications

• Degree level in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or a related discipline.
• Experience in creating high-quality content for press releases, social media and online publications.
• Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with media contacts, influencers, partners and stakeholders.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and deadlines effectively.
• Proactive and creative, with the ability to identify newsworthy opportunities and develop engaging stories.
• Understanding of Greater Manchester's visitor economy, tourism sector and wider cultural and business offer would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, coordination and delivery of media and influencer visits, including managing itineraries, logistics, briefing materials and stakeholder engagement.
• Respond to media enquiries in a timely and professional manner, ensuring a high standard of communication.
• Maintain media monitoring systems and databases to track journalist and influencer engagement, enquiries, pitches and contacts.
• Gather, organise and present media coverage, ensuring accurate reporting and evaluation of activity.
• Research tourism, cultural and business developments to identify opportunities that support communications activity.
• Create engaging content, including press releases, media pitches, social media posts and editorial contributions.
• Provide administrative support to the Media Team, including assisting with reports, presentations and campaign activity.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, influencers, tourism partners and stakeholders across Greater Manchester.
