Job summary

HM Land Registry is seeking a Lead Software Developer to drive technical direction across digital services transformation. You will mentor teams, shape software design, and collaborate with architects, product owners and delivery colleagues to deliver effective technical solutions.

The role requires strong senior experience, brownfield system stewardship, and the ability to guide development across the lifecycle. A hybrid working model is available across multiple UK locations.

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience in software development.
• Senior developer level with ability to mentor and guide other developers.
• Experience maintaining and improving brownfield systems."
• Broad software development experience across multidisciplinary teams.
• Extensive involvement across the full software development lifecycle from requirements through to deployment and support.
• BPPS level clearance is required.
• The role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and support to engineering teams.
• Lead and participate in software design and architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners and stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions.
• Support full lifecycle including testing, deployment, maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and coach developers to build team capability and skills.
• Remain hands-on where appropriate to contribute technically.
