Job summary

Jacobs is offering a highway engineer role focused on footway resurfacing and reconstruction projects within Hertfordshire. You will lead a portfolio across a defined area, balancing site conditions, design standards and budgets to deliver safe, practical solutions.

You will interact with contractors, residents and stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining CDM 2015 compliance and contributing to broader pavement maintenance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Practical experience of civil engineering, highway engineering, infrastructure maintenance or a closely related area.
• The ability to assess site conditions and develop safe, proportionate and deliverable engineering solutions.
• An understanding of construction materials and methods relevant to footways or highway pavements.
• The ability to read and apply technical standards, drawings, specifications and contract requirements.
• The confidence to work with contractors, colleagues, clients and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a varied portfolio of highway improvement schemes across a defined geographical area.
• Assess highway conditions and develop practical, buildable designs that meet technical, contractual and CDM 2015 requirements.
• Collaborate with contractors, residents and elected members to manage risks and deliver schemes on time.
• Support contract administration, including reviewing interim payment applications.
• Contribute to wider pavement maintenance projects within the Pavement Discipline.
