Job summary

Hamilton Woods Group in Derby is seeking a Head Office Accountant to own head office accounting, management accounts and financial controls. The role is hands-on, with close work alongside senior leadership, and offers hybrid/flexible working.

Part-time (30 hours per week) with study support for a qualified or part-qualified accountant, covering budgets, VAT, group intercompany activity and year-end processes.

Qualifications

• Qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or part-qualified with practical accounting experience.
• Experience preparing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
• VAT experience and HMRC compliance understanding.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail with deadlines.
• Confident communicating with senior stakeholders and handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, reporting packs, and variance analysis.
• Maintain balance sheets, trial balances and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns and oversee payroll reconciliations and PSA returns.
• Manage annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and cash flow forecasts for the group.
• Oversee head office banking, payments, expenses, intercompany recharges and pension administration.
• Support year-end accounts, audit and tax compliance, and ongoing process improvements.
