Job summary

WHITAKER SMITH RECRUITMENT LTD is partnering with an ambitious investor-backed organisation to appoint a Group Financial Controller in Lancashire. The role works closely with the CFO to lead financial control, group reporting and the evolution of the finance function across multiple entities.

You will drive year-end reporting, consolidation, tax oversight, and system improvements while supporting acquisitions and wider strategic finance projects as the Group grows.

Qualifications

• ACA qualified Accountant from practice with FC/Group FC level experience.
• Experience across multiple entities, consolidation and statutory reporting.
• Strong technical accounting skills with commercial acumen.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate and timely financial information across a multi-entity Group.
• Manage the consolidation process and group reporting to a high standard.
• Own the year-end reporting cycle, coordinating audits with external advisors.
• Ensure balance sheet integrity through robust controls and reconciliations.
• Oversee cash flow planning and banking activity across the organisation.
• Coordinate tax and statutory requirements (corp tax, VAT, overseas VAT, transfer pricing).
• Act as technical accounting point of contact for the finance team on complex matters.
• Develop and improve the group's financial control environment as the business scales.
• Review finance processes for simplification, automation and quality improvements.
• Provide high-quality financial information to CFO, senior leadership and investors.
• Support acquisitions and integration of new businesses; contribute to finance system projects.
