Job summary

Ocho People in Belfast seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a globally used product discovery platform. You will blend hands-on software leadership with people management to guide delivery and career growth.

You will partner with Product Management and Design to shape roadmaps, coach teams through agile practices, and drive both technical direction and personnel development. This hybrid role requires residence in Northern Ireland.

Qualifications

• 6+ years software engineering experience, including 2+ years as a people manager/lead.
• Strong track record in agile software development environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Coach, mentor, and drive career development across your team
• Prioritise workload ruthlessly, remove roadblocks, and protect the team from disruption
• Collaborate closely with Product Management on strategy and backlog prioritisation
• Identify professional development opportunities and partner with the right people to deliver them
• Anticipate future hiring needs and work with talent teams to recruit and evaluate new team members
• Deliver formal performance evaluations and frequent, informal feedback
• Advise on technical difficulties and flag risks your team might overlook (scalability, performance, security, compliance, operational readiness)
• Stay current on the tools, technologies, and industry developments relevant to your team
