Job summary

Hydrogen Group is seeking a technically strong Financial Crime Data Lead to own the data engineering capability supporting financial crime operations within a leading UK financial services organisation. You will design, build and optimise production data platforms using Snowflake and dbt, while setting technical direction and mentoring engineers.

The role covers data integration across AML, KYC, screening, CRM and operational systems, with a focus on data quality, governance and future AI

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Snowflake engineering covering architecture, modelling and cost control.
• Advanced dbt expertise with production transformation frameworks.
• Strong SQL with complex transformations and data quality checks.
• Strong Python for pipelines, automation and integrations.
• Experience delivering modern cloud data platforms in complex environments.
• Knowledge of Git, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and production support.
• Proven record leading engineers, setting technical standards and owning delivery.
• Experience working with governance-sensitive data in financial services or regulated settings.

Responsibilities

• Own Snowflake design, architecture and optimisation, including security and cost controls.
• Develop and maintain robust dbt transformation frameworks and CI/CD integration.
• Build production-grade SQL and Python data pipelines from multiple data sources.
• Develop scalable data models for clients, transactions, alerts and investigations.
• Establish automated data quality tests, lineage and governance controls.
• Define engineering standards and mentor engineers to ensure strong software practices.
• Integrate data from AML, KYC, screening and CRM systems for a unified data platform.
• Build datasets to support AI, anomaly detection and automation initiatives.
