Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking an Assistant Finance Business Partner to support Schools with external research and doctoral funding, ensuring alignment with sponsor terms. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, prepare financial statements and cost distributions, and contribute to month-end processes.

The role requires strong analytical skills, expertise in Excel, and experience with SAP/ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of financial procedures and accounting concepts, gained through qualifications or experience.
• Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate financial information to non-specialists.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
• Strong Excel and MS Office proficiency.
• Creative problem solving and numerical pattern recognition.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Team player with flexibility and ability to handle multiple deadlines.
• Willingness to challenge and be challenged.
• CCAB qualification in progress or equivalent experience.
• Experience using SAP or other ERP software.

Responsibilities

• Act as financial advisor to Principal Investigators and staff.
• Provide financial management information via briefings and reports.
• Assist with accruals and month-end processes.
• Ensure compliance with sponsor terms and internal controls.
• Plan tasks to meet deadlines and reporting requirements.
