Job summary

Citizen Housing is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join the finance department and support the financial reporting team. You will report to the Accountant and work across the business to provide accurate financial information and assist with budgeting and forecasting.

The role involves preparing management accounts, coordinating budget holder discussions, and generating reports from the finance database. Hybrid working with 2 days in the office is required.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSE’s Grades A-C (including Maths and English), or equivalent.
• AAT level 3 qualification or part CCAB qualification or working towards within 12 months.
• Ability to present and explain the findings of data analysis to the Accountant and other stakeholders.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience within an account’s environment providing accurate, reliable, and timely financial information to Budget Holders.
• Knowledge of computerised accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial advice, assistance, and support to Budget Holders in relation to income and expenditure in order for them to operate effective financial controls and forecasting.
• To undertake budgetary control meetings to ensure effective budgetary control is being carried out.
• Responsible for reconciliation of control accounts on a regular basis.
• Provide financial advice, assistance, and support to Budget Holders in relation to income and expenditure in order for them to operate effective financial controls and forecasting.
• Write or amend reports from the finance database (Open Accounts) and write ad hoc reports as requested by the Accountant.
• Support the Accountant in the production of monthly management accounts, including forecasting outturns.
