Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a highly skilled lubricant research engineer to lead development of lubricants for hybrid and ICE powertrains. You will design experiments, interpret results, and drive product ideas with OEM partners. The role emphasizes safe, high-quality practices and cross-functional collaboration.

The candidate should have a strong background in tribology, engine testing, data analysis, and communication with diverse audiences, enabling clear technical storytelling and roadmap support.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or Tribology.
• Understanding of ICE, hybrids, and range extender architectures.
• Experience designing and interpreting engine tests and tribology studies.
• Ability to analyze complex data and communicate recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in lubricant development for HEVs and ICE.
• Lead research programmes on lubricant performance under real-world conditions.
• Develop and apply test methods to study lubricant behaviour.
• Translate research findings into products, claims and value.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to convert results into offerings.
• Build relationships with OEMs and research partners.
• Identify IP and share findings through appropriate channels.
• Champion safe and compliant experimental practices.
• Coach and develop colleagues through guidance.
