Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking a Faculty Employability and Placement Officer to support placement years and work-related learning across faculties. You will provide practical administrative support, coordinate visits, and deliver guidance to students and employers on placements, CVs, applications, and interviews.

Qualifications

• Educated to A’ Level standard (or equivalent experience).
• Proficient IT skills with Microsoft/Google office software for business use of email.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer skills with experience in responding to varied stakeholders.
• Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines, while handling unscheduled tasks.
• Ability to work independently and with senior colleagues when appropriate.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and build positive relationships.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate tact across diverse groups.
• Strong event planning and organisational skills for meetings and events.
• Genuine interest in employability of students and graduates.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality administrative and organisational support across activities by the faculty-facing Employability & Placements Teams.
• Ensure placement year support for students and employers is delivered per policy with accurate records.
• Support academic Schools in coordinating placement year visits and assessments.
• Deliver workshops and advice on placements, CVs, applications, and interview prep.
• Lead or contribute to employability events, networking, or site visits with stakeholders.
• Produce reports and financial summaries related to placement activities.
• Monitor processes and improve customer service based on feedback.
• Act as main contact for students, employers and staff, directing queries appropriately.
• Maintain and update marketing materials promoting opportunities to students and employers.
