Job summary

Peregrine is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join its R&D team in Dorset. The role covers the full firmware lifecycle from requirements capture to hardware integration, validation, and release.

Strong C/C++ skills and experience with STM32 or similar MCUs and RTOS are essential, with a focus on solving complex hardware-software integration challenges. The position offers a flexible hybrid pattern with two days a week on-site in Dorset and opportunities to balance remote work with

Qualifications

• Strong C or C++ programming skills in embedded environments.
• Experience developing firmware for STM32, TI or similar microcontrollers and working with RTOS environments.
• Understanding of hardware schematics and interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART and CAN.
• Confident with firmware and hardware integration and debugging (STM, TI, Keil, Code Composer Studio).
• Able to gather, understand and break down requirements into clear features.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Define firmware requirements and plan implementation.
• Design, develop, test and review embedded firmware across multiple platforms, including firmware migration and software release activities.
• Support firmware update mechanisms, bootloaders and software deployment strategies.
• Integrate and test firmware with hardware and wider system components, supporting board-level debugging, validation and verification activities.
• Take part in stand‑ups and planning sessions.
• Perform regression testing and contribute to continuous integration improvements to maintain software quality.
