Job summary

Gloucestershire County Council's Gloucestershire Equipment Loan Service (GELS) is seeking a practical Driver Support to join the Logistics Team in Hempsted, Gloucester. The role involves transporting medical equipment between sites, supporting fleet maintenance, and ensuring vehicles are safe, clean and ready for use.

You will work both independently and as part of a supportive team, with duties including paperwork, driving, manual handling of equipment such as bariatric beds and hoists, and

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence.
• Experience in a busy transport/workshop environment.
• Ability to lift and move equipment.
• Good records keeping.

Responsibilities

• Delivering and collecting medical equipment between GELS sites.
• Assisting with equipment recovery and vehicle changeovers.
• Carrying out basic vehicle maintenance tasks, including topping up fluids and replacing bulbs.
• Cleaning and inspecting vehicles to maintain high standards and support planned maintenance.
• Maintaining accurate records using paper-based and electronic systems.
• Supporting the safe, clean and efficient operation of the workshop environment.
• Working independently and collaboratively to respond to service demands.
• Following health and safety procedures and contributing to a high-quality, customer-focused service.
