Job summary

Rolls-Royce Defence in Bristol is seeking a Design Safety Engineer for a full-time, hybrid role (minimum three days on site per week). You will influence design safety, assess failure modes, and quantify risks across military aero, naval, and helicopter systems within a leading defence business.

The role requires a STEM degree with mechanical/aero engineering experience, plus knowledge of safety and reliability techniques.

Qualifications

• Degree in a STEM subject with engineering experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with gas turbine engines.
• Knowledge of Safety & Reliability engineering techniques.

Responsibilities

• Influence design by analyzing how failures affect system operation and safety.
• Evaluate design concepts and hazard mitigation strategies.
• Identify critical components and perform risk analysis (e.g., FMECA).
• Quantify risks from human factors and system interactions.
• Produce Safety Case reports and FRACAS analyses.
