Job summary

Tesco UK is seeking an Assistant Designer for our Papershop team, working across Paperchase and Tesco brands to turn design inspiration into innovative prints and product concepts. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers, supporting the design journey from idea to launch in a fast-paced, creative environment.

The ideal candidate has a design portfolio, a BA in Design, and proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop (InDesign and Procreate a bonus).

Qualifications

Experience in a creative design role with a portfolio.
BA degree in Design or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop; InDesign and Procreate are a bonus.

Responsibilities

Providing design, product development and sampling support to keep the team running smoothly.
Proactive communications with the buying and design teams about trends, categories and colours.
Conducting customer and competitor research to inform designs and create reports.
Contributing to the department's design direction and identifying core lines and colours to drive sales.
Supporting delivery of must haves and seasonal/trend products for customers.
Resolving day to day operational issues and escalating where appropriate.
Assisting manager by designing the correct number of options to meet needs.
Compiling brief packs to achieve right first time quality buying sample.
Delivering the design component of the General Merchandise critical path.
