Job summary

Centrica is seeking a Demand Forecasting Analyst in the Reading/Windsor/London area under a Flexible First hybrid policy. You will join the Demand Forecasting team to develop UK gas and electricity demand forecasts for hedging and trading, while leveraging ML/AI techniques to continuously improve accuracy.

You will contribute to model development, data visualisation, and cross-functional collaboration to optimise costs and support customers in a dynamic energy market.

Qualifications

• Candidates should be highly numerate with strong analytical ability.
• Experience with statistical modelling and analysis on large data sets.
• Proficiency in Excel is essential; Python and SQL are highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Shared ownership of delivering gas and power demand forecasts for UK residential customers to hedging and 24/7 trading teams.
• Developing and maintaining models and algorithms to forecast gas and power demand for millions of customers, using ML/AI techniques where appropriate.
• Producing and visualising forecasting model quality using analytical tools.
• Developing understanding of customer behaviour, policy and trends to predict energy demand and transitions.
• Reducing energy imbalance costs by shaping forecasting models and processes.
• Supporting the broader Commercial team with insights into demand impacts and new propositions.
• Improving operational efficiency through automation.
• Building relationships with hedging, trading, finance, data science and other teams to maximise impact.
