Job summary

Babcock is hiring a Data Protection Specialist to support its global defence and engineering operations. This role will be based at the Bristol site with hybrid UK working and a 12-month fixed term contract, offering exposure across a complex international organisation.

You will advise on UK GDPR, data protection principles, and compliance activities, deliver training, and contribute to risk management and governance initiatives across the business.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and core data protection principles.
• Experience in compliance, risk, governance, information security, or data protection environment.
• Ability to conduct DPIAs, Data Subject Access Requests, Records of Processing Activities, data retention, lawful basis, and data breaches.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and guidance on data protection requirements and best practice.
• Support data protection compliance activities aligned with UK legislation and internal policies.
• Assist with personal data risk management activities including privacy assessments and governance processes.
• Deliver training and awareness initiatives to foster a privacy culture across the organisation.
• Monitor, reporting, and support continuous improvement of data protection controls and processes.
