Job summary

Connells Group UK is seeking a proactive data protection assistant to support the Data Protection Officer in delivering expert guidance and maintaining high privacy standards across the Group. In a hybrid, 12‑month fixed term contract, you’ll collaborate with Technology, Legal, Risk, HR and external partners to embed data protection in everything we do.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
• Knowledge of PECR requirements.
• 2–3 years' experience in data protection/compliance/privacy roles.
• Experience in a commercial environment (B2C or B2B).
• Understanding of data protection principles and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with breach management and rights requests.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and support DP Impact Assessments (DPIAs) with risk identification and mitigations.
• Maintain and update Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) across Group Companies.
• Coordinate the central data protection mailbox, triaging queries and escalating as needed.
• Identify breaches requiring ICO escalation and assist the DPO with ICO communications.
• Manage ICO registrations; ensure registrations reflect organisation structure and processing.
• Prepare and present data protection reports and metrics for governance forums.
• Maintain data protection policy suite and governance documents.
• Prepare data protection papers, presentations, and meeting materials.
• Deliver second-line data protection framework, assurance activities and monitoring of controls.
• Promote data protection awareness and training across the Group.
