Job summary

GFT is seeking a Construction Inspector II to join our Construction Services Team in one of our North Carolina offices on a hybrid schedule. You will oversee field inspections, coordinate with clients and contractors, and manage documentation to ensure compliance with plans, specs and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of construction inspection experience, a safety‑minded approach, and strong writing and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of construction inspection experience.
• Experience in construction, inspection, material testing, or transportation engineering for highway projects or related structures.
• A safety‑first mindset is essential.
• Strong writing, listening and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and oversee construction work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and safety requirements.
• Serve as daily contact with clients and contractors; manage observations, testing and documentation.
• Measure dimensions, verify levels and alignment of installations; prepare samples for lab testing.
• Record material quantities, develop pay estimates and change orders; maintain daily logs.
• Interpret plans for contractors and discuss deviations to ensure regulatory compliance.
