Description and Requirements

Lenovo Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS) Professional Services team is seeking a proactive PNC Service Engineer to oversee water treatment and quality compliance for mission-critical data centre secondary cooling water systems which support Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) to high performance servers. This role ensures that all water used in cooling operations meets operational and environmental standards, driving optimal system efficiency and highest reliability.

The preferred application location is the UK, Romania, Netherlands or other EU countries.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage chemical treatment of secondary cooling water systems to prevent scale, corrosion, and biological growth.
  • Conduct quarterly water sampling and field testing; interpret results and take corrective actions to maintain compliance.
  • Coordinate lab testing for metals and pH; analyze trends and advise clients on necessary actions.
  • Maintain optimal water chemistry to ensure system performance, longevity, and environmental safety.
  • Implement preventative maintenance and corrective actions to mitigate water-related risks.
  • Develop and update Lenovo’s standard operating procedures for water monitoring and treatment.
  • Provide training to global teams on water system management and compliance.
  • Manage vendor relationships and performance for outsourced water treatment services.
Requirements
  • Strong customer interaction skills and ability to make technical decisions in high-stakes environments.
  • Degree or knowledge in Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Water Resources, or related field.
  • Experience in water quality management or environmental compliance, preferably in industrial or data centre cooling systems.
  • Certifications such as Certified Water Technologist or OSHA 30 are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of High Performance Computing (HPC) systems is a plus.
  • Expertise in water chemistry for industrial cooling systems and familiarity with monitoring technologies.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage contractors, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive issues to resolution.
