Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking a qualified solicitor, barrister or FCILEX with civil litigation experience for a permanent Civil Litigation Lawyer role. The post offers hybrid/flexible working with attendance at in-person hearings as needed.

You will manage a diverse caseload, provide authoritative advice to council officers and members, and work under pressure to tight deadlines. The team handles housing and other claims, with a supportive cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor, barrister or FCILEX with full practising and advocacy rights.
• Experience in Civil Litigation and court/tribunal advocacy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload including complex civil litigation.
• Provide authoritative advice to Council Officers and Members to ensure lawful decisions.
• Defend disrepair, debt recovery, and other civil litigation matters as part of the team.
