Job summary

Jane Gorse Recruitment Limited is seeking a highly experienced bookkeeper with at least 3 years of UK bookkeeping experience. The role covers ledgers, VAT and payroll, using Sage/Xero, and handling multiple currencies across client portfolios in a busy accountancy practice based near Holcombe Brook, Bury.

Training and a degree of autonomy are offered. You will report to the practice manager and manage your own client portfolio, with a mix of office, home, and client-site work.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years' UK bookkeeping experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work off-site.
• Legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchase and sales ledgers, raise and input invoices in Sage/Xero.
• Process sales and purchase orders in Sage/Xero.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns.
• Process small monthly payrolls in Sage/Xero.
• Meet HMRC deadlines.
• Handle multi-currency, multiple banks, departments and entities.
• Produce accounts to trial balance stage.
• Maintain accurate files and data entry across the office.
