Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an Accountant/Bookkeeper for its Nottingham office. The role covers bookkeeping, management and statutory accounts, VAT processing, and year-end support across a diverse client base. You will reconcile ledgers, liaise with clients, and ensure HMRC compliance.

The position offers hybrid working where applicable, with a competitive salary, a pension scheme, and professional study support if required. Experience in practice and cloud-based accounting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong bookkeeping and accounts preparation experience.
• Knowledge of VAT, reconciliations and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience using cloud-based accounting software.
• AAT qualified, studying towards ACCA/ACA, or qualified by experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a varied client portfolio.
• Preparing management accounts and statutory accounts.
• Processing VAT returns and ensuring HMRC compliance.
• Assisting with year-end accounts preparation.
• Reconciling bank accounts, balance sheet accounts and ledgers.
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and provide support.
