Job summary

Deliveroo in London is seeking a Software Engineer to build and maintain high-performance systems powering a hyper-local marketplace. The role is based in our London office with a hybrid setup, typically 3 days in the office.

You’ll join a multi-disciplinary engineering team focused on technical execution, collaboration and production readiness, ensuring a seamless experience for millions of users.

Qualifications

• Experience building backend services for real-time marketplaces.
• Proficiency in one or more modern languages (Go, Ruby, Python, Scala, Rust).
• Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Familiarity with scalable web architectures and high-traffic systems.
• Experience with NoSQL backends or caching layers (Redis, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch).

Responsibilities

• Design and scale backend services for a real-time marketplace.
• Improve code structure and architecture through technical discussions and code reviews.
• Enhance system reliability with visibility and monitoring of production systems.
• Collaborate across teams to influence the technical roadmap.
• Participate in hiring and help grow peers.
